Buenos Aires, Argentina – In an effort to boost competitiveness and strengthen the reliability of suppliers in the mining industry and other strategic sectors, the Argentine Chamber of Mining Suppliers (CAPMIN) has signed an alliance with Achilles, the world’s leading supplier evaluation and certification company.
With this alliance, CAPMIN and Achilles reaffirm their commitment to the professionalization and transparency of the market, providing local suppliers with tools that allow them to compete globally and contribute to the growth of the mining and energy sector in Argentina.
A key step in the professionalization of the sector
This collaboration will allow CAPMIN’s partners to access a supported, transparent and credible certification system that will provide valuable information on the quality, capacity and credentials of the mining value chain in Argentina. As a result, companies will be able to identify and develop areas of opportunity to improve their competitiveness and compliance with international standards, differentiating themselves to mining companies and other key sectors such as energy and construction.
Manuel Benítez, president of CAPMIN, highlighted the relevance of this agreement in the current context:
“This agreement allows us to take a step forward in the quality of transparency and reliability of the goods and services of our associates. We align ourselves with international protocols of quality control, costs and transparency, generating a platform that will strengthen the credibility of Argentine suppliers both at home and abroad.”
Benítez also stressed the impact that this certification will have on the development of the sector:
A response to industry demand
Victor Esteve, Country Manager of Achilles for Argentina and Brazil, highlighted the importance of certification as a key factor in the integration of local suppliers in the supply chain of the mining and energy industry:
In addition, Esteve explained the Achilles certification approach:
A favorable context for investment
The Argentine economic and political context has been oriented to encourage investment in strategic sectors. The recent approval of the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI) has generated expectations in attracting projects that, in many cases, are driven by foreign companies. These companies, in compliance with their due diligence commitments in the value chain, will demand reliable and certified suppliers.
Without proper certification, there is a risk that foreign companies will prefer suppliers from other countries to the detriment of local suppliers. The implementation of this certification system will not only strengthen the presence of Argentine suppliers in the mining industry, but could also encourage the incorporation of new companies to CAPMIN, thus promoting the development of the sector.
With this alliance, CAPMIN and Achilles reaffirm their commitment to the professionalization and transparency of the market, providing local suppliers with tools that allow them to compete globally and contribute to the growth of the mining and energy sector in Argentina.
