Audit conducted: Sustainability audit for Vestas
Challenge
Sanghvi Movers had a number of policies to address its sustainability framework, however it was missing the critical areas that are most important as per Vestas’ audit protocol and requirements. The main challenge faced by Sanghvi Movers was to identify the gap and help Sanghiv’s team to address them, one by one.
Prabhjot Singh Virdi, Assistant Manager – EHS, Sanghvi Movers Ltd commented, “The onsite audit conducted by the esteemed Mr. Satish Karkera from Achilles was an exercise of the utmost utility.”
Solution
Achilles auditors prepared a clear and concise report following the audit, providing Sanghvi Movers with detailed information about the compliance gaps and recommendations for improvement, for example, Sanghvi was advised to co-ordinate with the local Vestas team and look for specific documented approval which enable them to use their subcontractors for providing service to Vestas. This allowed Sanghiv and his team to prioritise their actions and focus their efforts on the areas that were of paramount importance, ultimately leading to a streamlining and improvement of their HSE and HR management system.
“The audit was instrumental in helping us organise our management system more effectively. Mr. Karkera’s percipient observations and recommendations, provided us with a clearer understanding of the areas where we needed to make improvements. This allowed us to prioritise our actions and focus our efforts on the areas that were of paramount importance, ultimately leading to a streamlining and improvement of our management system”, explained Prabhjot Singh Virdi.
Results
The sustainability audit identified a non-compliance in their grievance procedure, highlighting that they had not investigated any previous complaints received anonymously. Raising this issue as a key finding helped the company understand the importance of investigation on anonymous complaint to improve their overall quality management system.
The recommendations, and findings from Achilles, not only helped Sanghvi Movers to ensure that their management system is aligned with Vestas’ requirements, but also enabled them to be better prepared to meet the future requirements of global standards such as the quality standard ISO 9001:2015 and health and safety standard ISO 45001:2018.
Prabhjot Singh Virdi continued, “These kinds of audits are of immeasurable value to an organisation such as ours. They offer an objective and external perspective on our management system and enable us to identify areas of weakness or non-compliance. The participation in such audits allows us to stay ahead of the curve and be better prepared to meet the future requirements of global standards. This not only helps us maintain our competitive edge, but also ensures that we are providing our esteemed customers with the highest level of quality and service.”
