Achilles extends oil and gas reach with appointment of US based Director

14 Jan 2015

Achilles – which works on behalf of 120 global oil and gas buying organisations to manage supplier and supply chain risks – is investing in its ambitious growth plans with the appointment of US-based Mike Viator as Global Oil & Gas Director.

Achilles has more than 20 years’ experience of providing independent pre-qualification, supplier compliance and supply chain risk management solutions to the oil and gas sector.

Mike will oversee Achilles’ 10 oil and gas ‘pre-qualification’ communities across the world including FPAL in the UK and Europe, FPS in Asia Pacific, Siclar in Latin America, JQS in the Nordics, NJQS in Nigeria and FPK in Kazakhstan. He will also lead Achilles’ exciting growth plans, including further development in the United States.

Mike brings more than 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, both globally and in the United States. Prior to joining Achilles Mike spent six years at Eaton Corporation as Global Director of Sales with a focus on market share growth, streamlining processes and ensuring products are competitive in the marketplace.

Achilles was founded in Norway in 1990 to enable oil and gas organisations to identify, assess, qualify and monitor suppliers throughout their supply chain, while reducing operating costs.

Richard Collins, director of global sales at Achilles, said: “Due to the plummeting price of oil per barrel, the industry has a renewed focus on reducing risks in its supplier base. We are delighted that someone of Mike’s calibre can help grow Achilles’ collaborative pre-qualification communities which help cut the time and cost burden of gathering, managing and updating supplier information.”

Mike added: “I look forward to working with Achilles because of its exciting growth plans and commitment to support new and existing customers in the oil and gas industry. “With offices in 22 countries, Achilles is uniquely placed to help businesses deal with differing regulatory and compliance criteria around the world.”
