Achilles releases new enhanced Sustainability Score for greater supply chain transparency and performance improvement

Enhanced Achilles Sustainability Score adds new data and metrics including carbon maturity and additional health and safety and financial risk gauges to support improved supply chain sustainability.

ABINGDON, UK, 23 August 2024 – Achilles, a global leader in supply chain risk and performance management, today announced important Achilles Sustainability Score enhancements that make supply chain benchmarking, comparison and improvement more comprehensive and accurate.

The Achilles Sustainability Score is a sustainability scoring framework that enables supplying organisations to demonstrate and improve their supplier credentials and buying organisations to measure supplier performance and meet supply chain risk management goals. The Score is underpinned by Achilles’ rigorously validated supplier assessment data. It covers an extensive set of environmental, social and governance considerations as well as financial, health and safety and cyber security factors.

The new enhanced Achilles Sustainability Score uses even more data from Achilles extensive supplier data collection process, including carbon maturity data collected from the Achilles Carbon Management Module, to provides a more comprehensive view of ESG supply chain performance. The addition of the new Average Benchmark feature enables users to instantly see suppliers’ relative performance.

From October 2024, the Achilles Sustainability Score will be further enhanced with the addition of a new Transparency Metric. Calculated based on how much data suppliers have provided compared to the maximum possible, the Transparency Metric will make it easier to identify the most transparent suppliers and, also, encourage suppliers to share information.

For organisations for whom health and safety performance of suppliers is a central concern, the Health and Safety information contained within the Social and Governance elements of the Achilles Sustainability Score is now also shown separately in a dedicated health and safety risk gauge to enable high and low performers to be easily identified. Risk gauges have also been added for financial and Cyber Security performance.

New tools within the MyAchilles platform also improve efficiencies and provide deeper insight into the Achilles Sustainability Score including the ability to drill down to view how scores have been calculated and understand relative strengths and weaknesses within each component – all in one place. Likewise, suppliers have full access to their score alongside actionable insights to support performance improvement. Importantly, supplier strength and weakness data now covers all scored questions in the Achilles in-depth supplier assessment process using a five-point scale to provide richer levels of insight.

“We are delighted to be releasing the new Achilles Sustainability Score to make it even easier and clearer to understand supplier and supply chain performance. The Achilles score distils the many hundreds of data points collected during our rigorous supplier assessment process into a single, easy to understand score. Now with these new changes, the score goes even further, incorporating even more data points, clearly showing how suppliers are performing in their categories and incentivising and rewarding those suppliers that are operating with the increasing levels of openness and transparency required to achieve end to end supply chain sustainability.” said Mark Chamberlain, Chief Product Officer at Achilles.

The enhanced Achilles Sustainability Score is now available to Achilles customers. New users wishing to take advantage of Achilles robust scoring mechanism should get in touch here.
