Achilles achieves CEMARS certification for ninth consecutive year with impressive results

26 Apr 2017

Achilles, a leading provider of supplier risk management services, has achieved CEMARS (Carbon & Energy Management And Reduction Scheme) certification for the ninth consecutive year, achieving a 34 percent reduction in the last three years.

Achilles has implemented a range of new initiatives including review of the global travel policy, regionalising activities and utilising occupancy sensors to reduce electricity use. We are continually looking to understand our carbon footprint and put in place new plans to reduce our carbon emissions.

Achilles results were reported and independently verified via CEMARS – one of the world’s most rigorous carbon reduction programmes. It confirms the company has measured its greenhouse gas emissions in compliance with ISO 14064-1:2006, and has committed to managing and reducing its emissions in respect of all operational activities.

Dr Ann Smith, Chief Executive of Enviro-Mark Solutions, said: “We are very proud to work with Achilles to inspire global climate action. Both as our license partner and as a CEMARS certified organisation, Achilles has been proactive in how we can continually improve environmental results. The reductions they have demonstrated over the years speak volumes, as does their pioneering work in the UK. We are delighted with the mutual achievements so far and anticipate great things still to come.”

Jay Katzen, Chief Executive of Achilles, said: “In 2008 Achilles became the first ever organisation to receive CEMARS certification. Nine years on, it is still an integral part of our wider corporate responsibility and environmental programme. As a licence partner of Enviro-Mark Solutions, we want to demonstrate our leadership in measuring, managing and reporting on our operational carbon footprint – by doing so we are demonstrating to our customers that Achilles doesn’t just ‘talk the talk’ but also ‘walk the walk’ with regard to measuring and managing our carbon emissions. The team have done an amazing job in implementing new initiatives to reduce our carbon emissions and we will continue to take action.”
